Litty with 6LACK 🎶

Hello Hello Hello,

So on Tuesday, November 14th DeeDee finally went for her first concert yayyyyy

First of all, I have no idea why I’m talking to y’all in the third person. I guess the excitement hasn’t worn off yet, my roommates are excitedly waiting for it too, trust me.

I had purchased the ticket in October and they were $82.85 CAD in total because I got two tickets. Well, the doors were meant to open at 8 pm at Rebel, however, at this time Daisy (my roommate) and I were still in the uber to get there.

Finally, we arrived at 8:20 pm and stayed on the line for approximately 15-20mins before finally getting into the venue. By this time, nothing was going on so we decided to use the washroom to while away time. Just as we were making our way out of the washroom, we heard screams and I turned to Daisy saying “wowwwwww I’ve already missed my first concert” Yep! I’m so dramatic. Luckily, it wasn’t actually 6lack (Pronounced Black), it was the opening artist – Sabrina Claudio

In the midst of her performance, Daisy and I were struggling and pushing our way through to the front lol, this wasn’t that easy but we made it. She performed for approximately 45 mins but to be honest, that’s not who I went to see so it felt like forever!

Then boommmmmm it’s 6LACK! Like at this point, I’m screaming my lungs out and it feels like a dream.

He addressed the reason behind his album and why it was called Free 6lack. The album to him was basically about him freeing himself from being stuck in various situations in the past. The performance eventually started in a planned out way and after a few songs, he left to rest I’m assuming, but then it all got better. DVSN made an appearance, like can you imagine?! OMG, I literally couldn’t breathe. I was ready to force my way to the stage, oh yeah, I was going to be one of those crazy fans I even thought about fainting too! He was wonderful, just as expected, and performed just two songs “With me” and “Don’t choose” from his new album. Then 6lack returned and performed until 11:45 pm, ending with one of his popular tracks, PRBLMS. At this point, I’m rushing my way to the back to go get these.

Clips from the concert:

This concert made me feel AMAZINGGGGGGG!!! Will I recommend this artist to you? like YES, why not. I will like to know which artists you listen to and if you have been to any concert. Share your experience with me! 🌸

Galatians 6:9
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”

This whole week my roommates and I were craving our native meal from back home, Nigeria. Out of the various delicacies we have, we decided to satisfy our cravings with the famous Pounded Yam and Efo Riro Soup. This meal wasn’t difficult to prepare and took approximately 60mins.

Efo Riro Soup

Ingredients: no 1

Part 1

Chop all listed ingredients. Use a blender to achieve a smooth consistency. Pour mixture into a pot and boil it to drain the excess fluid.

Part 2

  • 1 cup of palm oil
  • 2 Tablespoon of grounded crayfish
  • Parboiled meat (Goat meat or beef and/or chicken)
  • 1 medium-sized Stock Fish “Panla”
  • Seasoning cubes, Crushed
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 packs of chopped fresh/frozen spinach or 1 large bunch of Kale leaves

If using fresh spinach/kale, place the spinach/kale in a bowl, add ½ teaspoon of salt, cover with boiling water and place a lid over the bowl. Allow it to rest for 15-20mins.  Rinse out the spinach/kale and squeeze out all excess water.

  • Place a large pot over medium heat, add in the palm oil. Heat oil until a little smoky.
  • Add in the blended paste from part 1 and the leftover ingredients in part 2 apart from the spinach/kale.  Cover and leave to simmer for 20-25 minutes (The palm oil will float to the top when the sauce is ready).
  • Add in the spinach/kale. Taste and adjust seasoning, leave to simmer for another 3- 5 more minutes.

Final Ero

The Efo Riro soup was paired with a pounded yam mix and a chilled glass of orange crush. A definite 10/10! I would recommend this meal to anyone. Next cooking session will be another soup which can also be paired with the pounded yam.
Do stay tuned!

Since this is a delicacy in my country, do you have any soups from your country that I could try?
